Shorthand @80 words per minute in English or in Hindi for 10 minutes. Transcription of dictation in English in 50 minutes on computer or transcription of dictation in Hindi in 65 minutes on Computer.
b. Head Constable (Ministerial) :
Typing @35 words per minute in English or @30 words per minute in Hindi corresponding to 10500 KDPH in English/9000 KDPH in Hindi with average of 5 key depression for each word on computer. Time-10 minutes.
c. For Constable (Drafty) : No technical test require for CT (Daftry)

B. Selection Procedure for ASI (Steno), HC (MIN) and CT (Daftry):
The selection shall be held in two phase under –
1. First Phase
(i) Written Examination
2. Second Phase 
(i) Physical Measurement Test (PST)
(ii) Short Hand Test (Only for ASI)
(iii) Typing Speed Test (only for HC-Ministerial)
(iv) Documentation (Checking of documents)
(v) Medical Examination
There shall be sufficient gap between two phases of tests.

Written Examination Syllabus and Marks Distribution :-
BSF Written examination will consist of the following five parts
PART-I   –  Hindi/English language           –  20 marks
PART-II  –  General Intelligence               –  20 marks
PART-III –  Numerical Aptitude               –  20 marks
PART-IV –  Clerical Aptitude                   –  20 marks
PART-V  –   Basic Computer Knowledge –  20 marks
There will be one composite paper for one year forty (1-40) minutes duration consisting of above five parts and will be “OMR based objective type with multiple choice questions” . Question papers will be printed bilingually (English & Hindi) . The minimum qualification marks of written test are as under –
(i)  General Category   –   35 %
(ii) OBC/SC/ST          –   33%
However, remember in this case, the number of candidates to be qualified in written examination may restricted to the ten (10) times the number of vacancies for the post of HC/CT and 30 times the number of vacancies for the post Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI-Stenographer)

1. The candidates declared successful in written examination will be called to appear in he second phase of selection separately.
2. The candidates found eligible after physical measurements will only be allowed in typing (For HC/Min) and stenography speed test (For ASI/Steno) which will be qualifying in nature and to be cleared separately in each stage.

Candidates must deposit a fee of Rs. 150/-(Rupees one hundred fifty only) in the form of A/C Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank / IPO purchased on or after 22/04/2013 in favour of “West Bengal Police Recruitment Board” payable at Kolkata. No application will be considered unless accompanied with the requisite application fees. No fee 5 will be charged from candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe category and candidates from Exempted Category of West Bengal only

Method of Recruitment:-

Candidature of the candidates will be subject to verification of the documents submitted regarding their claim for eligibility at a later stage. Eligible candidates will be called for Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) before the Range Recruitment Boards. 

The height and weight of the candidates will be measured by Electronic Machines.

Candidates who qualify in PMT will be eligible for PET. Candidates will have to complete 400 meters race in maximum 2 minutes. Timing of individual runner shall be taken with the help of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) Technology. Physical Efficiency Test will be a qualifying in nature. Only one chance will be given for Physical Efficiency Test. 

(The Venue for the PMT and PET will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.)

The candidates who qualify in PMT and PET will be asked to appear in a written examination. The written examination will be conducted by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The written examination will have Multiple objective type questions (MCQ) on General Awareness, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. There will also be a few questions which will test the candidate’s ability to distinguish patterns. The candidates are expected to fill up the correct blank space against a question number on the machine readable OMR Answer Sheet. The question paper will be in English, Bengali, Hindi and Nepali, but the answers will have to be filled up correctly in OMR sheet. (There will be negative marking for wrong answer.)

4. INTERVIEW:-Full Marks-10

A limited number of candidates who appear in the written examination will be called for interview. The cut of marks in the written test for interview call in different categories will be fixed by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. In the interview, the 

general awareness of the candidate will be tested. The interview will be conducted by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board through Range Recruitment Boards. 

All provisionally selected candidates will be required to fill up a ‘Verification Roll’ which will be thoroughly enquired into by the concerned authority


After receipt of Verification Roll having ‘NO OBJECTION’; all provisionally selected candidates will be sent for medical examination at the State Government designated Hospitals. The candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein,squint eyes. The minimum vision should be 6/6 with or without glasses. They should possess high colour vision and should not be colour blind. The Medical Test will also include the chest X-Ray and other test as prescribed by the department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal from time to time. The selected candidate should have a good mental and physical health and free from any physical deformity likely to interfere with efficient performance with her duties.The certificate of medical fitness will be issued by authorized Medical Officer.

Application Procedure:-

The prescribed application form with detailed Information Brochure will be available from the office of the Superintendents of Police of all districts and the office of the Commissioner’s of Police of all Police Commissionerate (except Kolkata) on all working days between 10 AM and 05:30 PM from 22/04/2013 to 22/05/2013. Application Form will be issued to the candidates on production of Bank Draft / Postal Order of Rs.150/- (One hundred fifty only) or Caste Certificate (for the candidates from Schedule Tribe / Scheduled Caste Community of West Bengal only) or Identity Card issued by the Labour Department,Government of West Bengal in case of Exempted Category candidate.
The candidates fulfilling the conditions regarding eligibility in respect of age, physical standards and educational qualification should submit prescribed application form duly filled up in English in their own handwriting along with the following documents :

i) Proof of Educational Qualification. 
ii) Proof of age (preferably Madhyamik Certificate / Admit Card & Marksheet of Madhyamik Examination). 
iii) Caste Certificates (SC/ST/OBC-A/B) issued by the competent authority. 
iv) One copy of recent passport size colour photograph of size 4.5 cm X 3.5 cm. pasted in the box provided in the application form and two more identical extra copies of photographs should be attached (not stapled). Application Sl. No. should be written on the backside of additional photographs. 
v) Candidates applying under exempted category as a member of the family of Land loser / as Ex-Census Employees / Election Job Workers / Enumerators should submit an attested copy of identity card showing registration and NCO No. issued by the Labour Department, Government of West Bengal.


Duly filled up Application Form along with two photographs and copies of all certificates are to be placed in an envelope of size 34 cm X 26 cm. The application form should not be folded. The envelope should be properly sealed. On the top of the envelope please write “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF LADY CONSTABLE IN WEST BENGAL POLICE – 2013”. On the right side of the envelope please write “TO THE CHAIRMAN, WEST BENGAL POLICE RECRUITMENT BOARD, ARAKSHA BHAVAN, SECTOR-II, BLOCK-DJ, SALT LAKE CITY, KOLKATA-700 091”. 

Application form may be deposited at the same place from where it was issued or can be sent directly to the Chairman, West Bengal Police Recruitment Board by post. On the left side of the envelope please write “From” followed by your name and full address. Please ensure that the application form reaches West Bengal Police Recruitment Board before the last date of receipt of application i.e. 23/05/2013. The Board will not be responsible for postal delays and applications arriving at the respective issuing offices after the last date shall not be entertained.
