WB SSC Scam: ED seized ₹20 Crore cash from Arpita Mukherjee’s house

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized Rs.20 crore in Arpita Mukherjee’s house in connection with an alleged West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) teacher recruitment scam.
The cash was recovered as the central agency carried out search operations at the various premises linked to SSC scam in West Bengal.

The search teams are taking the assistance of bank officials for the counting of cash through counting machine. Photo (Shared of ED‘s official Twitter handle) of the house taken during the raid show Rs.2000 and Rs.500 notes that were recovered.
More than 20 mobile phones have also been recovered from the premises of Arpita Mukhopadhayay, the purpose and use of which being ascertained.
The ED has also recovered incriminating documents, records, details of dubious companies, electronic devices, foreign currency, and gold from various premises of the persons linked to the scam, according to the source.
What is WB SSC Scam Case ?
The High Court of Calcutta, in a slew of writ petitions, had recently directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to carry out investigations into the recruitment scam Group ‘C’ & ‘D’, Assistant teacher of classes IX to XII and Primary teachers. In this case ED is investigating cases under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)
