The candidate must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or equivalent examination from any Board recognized by the State Government or the Central Government.
1. Candidates of all Categories (except Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes)
The candidate must not be less than 18 years and not more than 27 years of age as on 01.01.2013 (i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1986 and not later than 1st January, 1995). Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 (five) years for SC/ST candidates and 03 (three) years for OBC candidates of West Bengal only. The upper age limit is also relaxable for Ex-service personal as per existing Govt. rules.
Candidates must deposit a fee of Rs. 150/-(Rupees one hundred fifty only) in the form of A/C Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank / IPO purchased on or after 22/04/2013 in favour of “West Bengal Police Recruitment Board” payable at Kolkata. No application will be considered unless accompanied with the requisite application fees. No fee 5 will be charged from candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe category and candidates from Exempted Category of West Bengal only
Candidature of the candidates will be subject to verification of the documents submitted regarding their claim for eligibility at a later stage. Eligible candidates will be called for Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) before the Range Recruitment Boards.
Candidates who qualify in PMT will be eligible for PET. Candidates will have to complete 400 meters race in maximum 2 minutes. Timing of individual runner shall be taken with the help of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) Technology. Physical Efficiency Test will be a qualifying in nature. Only one chance will be given for Physical Efficiency Test.
The candidates who qualify in PMT and PET will be asked to appear in a written examination. The written examination will be conducted by West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The written examination will have Multiple objective type questions (MCQ) on General Awareness, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. There will also be a few questions which will test the candidate’s ability to distinguish patterns. The candidates are expected to fill up the correct blank space against a question number on the machine readable OMR Answer Sheet. The question paper will be in English, Bengali, Hindi and Nepali, but the answers will have to be filled up correctly in OMR sheet. (There will be negative marking for wrong answer.)

All provisionally selected candidates will be required to fill up a ‘Verification Roll’ which will be thoroughly enquired into by the concerned authority
After receipt of Verification Roll having ‘NO OBJECTION’; all provisionally selected candidates will be sent for medical examination at the State Government designated Hospitals. The candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein,squint eyes. The minimum vision should be 6/6 with or without glasses. They should possess high colour vision and should not be colour blind. The Medical Test will also include the chest X-Ray and other test as prescribed by the department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal from time to time. The selected candidate should have a good mental and physical health and free from any physical deformity likely to interfere with efficient performance with her duties.The certificate of medical fitness will be issued by authorized Medical Officer.
The prescribed application form with detailed Information Brochure will be available from the office of the Superintendents of Police of all districts and the office of the Commissioner’s of Police of all Police Commissionerate (except Kolkata) on all working days between 10 AM and 05:30 PM from 22/04/2013 to 22/05/2013. Application Form will be issued to the candidates on production of Bank Draft / Postal Order of Rs.150/- (One hundred fifty only) or Caste Certificate (for the candidates from Schedule Tribe / Scheduled Caste Community of West Bengal only) or Identity Card issued by the Labour Department,Government of West Bengal in case of Exempted Category candidate.
The candidates fulfilling the conditions regarding eligibility in respect of age, physical standards and educational qualification should submit prescribed application form duly filled up in English in their own handwriting along with the following documents :
Duly filled up Application Form along with two photographs and copies of all certificates are to be placed in an envelope of size 34 cm X 26 cm. The application form should not be folded. The envelope should be properly sealed. On the top of the envelope please write “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF LADY CONSTABLE IN WEST BENGAL POLICE – 2013”. On the right side of the envelope please write “TO THE CHAIRMAN, WEST BENGAL POLICE RECRUITMENT BOARD, ARAKSHA BHAVAN, SECTOR-II, BLOCK-DJ, SALT LAKE CITY, KOLKATA-700 091”.
